Moongold brings a modern take to vintage soul, blending gritty funk grooves, warm R&B tones, and a jazz-infused heart. Fronted by the powerhouse vocals of Najeé Maité, and led by guitarist and songwriter Marc Wren, the five-piece band channels the spirit of Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, and a late-night Stax Records session.

After coming up through Denver’s music scene, Moongold relocated to DC, where Adam Edwards (bass), Frank Mitchell (sax), Michael Huffman (trumpet) and Sriram Gopal (drums) help power a tight, soulful live show that keeps crowds moving.

Being fans of science fiction, Moongold takes its name from an original album artwork concept depicting a sci-fi book cover of astronauts mining for gold on the moon!

Sriram Gopal presents The Fourth Stream: music that incorporates any and all influences while retaining a strong commitment to melody, groove, and improvisation.

The rotating set of musicians from which Sriram draws have ranged from the area’s best jazz musicians, hop-hop artists, classical Indian musicians, and poets for a laid back evening of music.
